The N12 branches off of the N1 at Three Sisters and is the gateway to the maize and gold fields of the North West. It roughly follows the course of the Soutrivier to the town of Victoria West.
Arguably the R62 route is the main tourist route through the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn from where it continues via the Langkloof to the Eastern Cape.
